Hello!

I recently bought a used MacBook Pro on Cowboom, without noticing that it did not include an Operating System... I was just excited to find a Pro I could finally afford. :Blushing:

I'm dying to use it, but can't quite figure out what my options are for an Operating System... I know I need a retail version, but am I limited to Tiger or can I go newer?

Thanks for any advice, I haven't had a Mac laptop since I had a Powerbook in high school and am dying to get up and running with this! :Blushing:

Your Mac's Specs
2017 27" iMac, 10.5" iPad Pro, iPhone 8, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 Mini, Numerous iPods, Monterey
The latest version of OS X that you can run on that machine is Lion, OS X 10.7.5. If it were my MBP, I would settle on running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. You can purchase the retail version of Snow Leopard from Apple for $19.99 direct on line. Snow Leopard will included Rosetta which will also allow you to run some older PPC coded apps. Lion and Mountain Lion will only run Intel coded apps.

BTW, your machine is a late 2006 15" MBP, Core 2 Duo. Maximum memory the machine can utilize is 3 GB but it's best to load it with 2 x 2 GB modules for best results.
