I'm using an early 2011 macbook pro OS X 10.10.5. I recently reset my NVRAM and now my macbook fan is running loudly when I run programs. I tried restoring my mac to a backup I made before the reset, but the fan still runs loud.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Have you waited a while with less activity to see if it will slow back down?

Yes, it still runs loudly even when I'm using one program. I had a similar issue last year, but once I installed the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Supplemental Update the fan issue stopped. it seems resetting the NVRAM undid whatever the update fixed.
