Hi Folks... here's my config: Mac Pro 2010, 3.33GHz 6-Core, 16GB RAM

The Apple Geniuses (no sarcastic pun intended) replaced the Logic Board but forgot to re-flash the firmware some time ago. Since then, I've recently completed a new install of the OS. However, using iMessages in Mountain Lion requires the firmware to be re-flashed and the serial number to be available from the Logic Board on this Mac Pro.

It is... let's say.. very difficult and inconvenient for me to lug the tower back to the Apple Store and I would like to either:
A. Re-flash the Logic Board myself (if possible) OR
B. Bring in just the Logic Board to the Apple Store to let them do it

Unfortunately, I don't have a tech license to access the online GSX Exchange, Apple Consultants Network, etc.

Is there a way I could do either of these?

Thank you.

Thanks guys.... here's the system info...

Model Identifier: MacPro5,1
Boot ROM Version: MP51.007F.B03
SMC Version (system): 1.39f11

Downloading and trying to install EFI Update 1.5 gave the following error...

This software is not supported on your system.

We've been asked this before.... and the answer is still the same: It has to go back to Apple in order for the new serial number to be flashed, and you can not just bring them the logic board. I'm afraid you're going to have exercise your muscles and lug the Pro back to them.

Thank you... FYI, this is really difficult to do for someone that is disabled. Are you sure there is no way I can bring in the logic board in order for the S/N to be flashed?

Thank you, again.

I would suggest calling Apple Support. They do have a pickup and delivery service. Had my logic board replaced this way, FEDEX pick up and return. Total turn around was about a week and a half.
