I have a mac mini Coreduo, that I've upgraded to a Core2Duo with a firmware upgrade and a 160GB Sata 5400 hard drive, and it now shows in the hardware overview as a mac mini 2,1. These days I use my mac for music a lot and need a bigger hard drive. There's not much price-wise between a 500GB and a 1TB so if possible I'd like to fit a 1TB disk. My question is will this work? Is there a GB size limit, does it have to be 5400. And finally, would a SATA II or III disk fit (I doubt it)?

Thanks.

Your Mac's Specs
MacMini M-1 MacOS Monterey, iMac 2010 27"Quad I7 , MBPLate2011, iPad Pro10.5", iPhoneSE
I have that same Mac Mini upgraded the same way. My friend has one also and we put in a 2.5" 5400 RPM 750GB. It works great. Not sure if there is a limit besides the 2.5" drives usually don't go much above 1TB. I will search and see what I can find.

All I have in my old Mini is a 250GB Seagate.
