I just checked, and I bought my Macbook pro laptop in late 2013. There is a background program called medianalysisd which, to my knowledge analyzes all your photos so that the photo app can sort them. However, this program activates at random and when it does it takes up around 60-70% of my CPU; consequently slowing down the art programs I need for work to the point of lagging (try drawing a circle when the computer can't keep up with your pen stroke). Once I allowed this program to just run and it ran for 24 hours without stopping; now whenever I see my programs lagging I have to open my activity monitor and sure enough, there's medianalysisd clogging everything up and I force quit it. It's been 9 years, I think it should have analyzed everything by now. Can I delete this dang program so that it never runs again?

Worst case scenario...could have done a fresh install of the macOS. Definitely no need to deal with this for 9 years.:)

Hopefully the fix Jake (MacInWin) suggested takes care of it.:)
