As I need access to my office, I used Microsoft Remote Desktop with High Sierra without any problems with my Mac Mini with High Sierra. I recently bought a MacBook Pro which use Mojave. I tried it with Microsoft Remote Desktop and It don't work. As I also have another Mini with Mojave, I also tried it and it is doing the same thing. Microsoft Remote Desktop seems to work with High Sierra but not with 2 Macs with Mojave. Is there some incompatibility between this software and Mojave ? I always have this message when I try to connect:

We couldn't connect to the remote PC because the PC can't be found. Please provide the fully-qualified name or the IP address of the remote PC, and then try again.

Error code: 0x104

Thanks

In System Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Local Network, make sure the App is enabled to access devices on the local net.

Welcome to the forum. You posted in a thread from 2019. You can see the date of the various posts in the header bars for each post. I would suspect that the original poster has long since solved the problem.

But don't worry, you aren't the first (nor the last) visitor to open a zombie thread! Please come back and contribute to the forum dialogs, just watch for the dates!

I know I'm replying to a month old reply on a five year old thread but this saved my sanity and fixed my issue. Thank you!

Same .... thank you, was going insane wondering why it used to work and all of a sudden it stopped after not having used it for a while.

Welcome to mac-forums it's interesting to see that you found a solution has did other fairly recent posters to a four-year-old thread problem.

I'm good to know that the fix still works.

Indeed, I'm guessing what happened in my case was a system update (15.1.1 to 15.2) must have affected a few permissions to some unused apps, in this case Windows App (Remote Desktop).

Normally one wouldn't miss this because when you install a new app, you get prompted to allow/deny Local Network access. However, the act of Uninstalling/Reinstalling this app didn't trigger the permission popup probably because Uninstall leaves config and other junk behind on the OS, just guessing tho.
