Can anyone comment on the compatibility? Have you noticed issues. I run Snow Leopard at work and Lion at home with CS5 and don't experience problems. I rely on this software in both locations, so I want to verify compatibility before updating.

While I do not have Mountain Lion installed, and won't for quite some time I suspect, I'm not really aware of any change that would cause CS5/5.5 to become non-functional.

That said, if you wait a few days.. and check roaring apps.. your answer should be solid.

I just upgraded to 10.8 and completely forgot about adobe products. I have all of the design applications for CS5. Anyways, when i opened Photoshop Extended it said i had to install a java runtime and i clicked Ok and it did. At a first look it seems fine. I noticed the text tool loads WAY faster. You should be fine upgrading as Adobe is a very large company associated with OSX and they will certainly maintain support. You may want to just wait a week in case there is anything weird.

On a side note, remember that Rosetta IS NOT in 10.8 or 10.7, so PPC only applications WILL NOT run.

I did research before posting this yesterday and stumbled across the roaring apps site. I didn't trust its info because it was showing questionable functionality with CS5 in Lion. I use CS5 on Lion and don't see that. I wanted user experience and appreciate those who chimed in.

Regardless of Adobe being a large company, their relationship has been sketchy with Apple in recent years. With CS5, some programs didn't get 64 bit support and even some features that the same program had on windows. I figured problems would be less, if any compared to the jump from Snow Leopard to Lion. I never know with Adobe though.

Same for me. I just upgraded and it prompted me on the first start to install the java runtime. Did that and started up Photoshop, Illustrator, .. (CS5) Everything runs without problems and pretty speedy. ML seems to be a great upgrade for my aging mid 2008 iMac here.

Ditto here - My life (sad though it seems) virtually revolves around Photoshop and Illustrator, so the first thing I did was to try them both out. No problems thus far.

I had major problems with Adobe Flash Professional in Lion (constantly crashing.) So I had to de-install and go back to Snow Leopard. I'm super-hesitant to go to Mountain Lion (though I'd love to cause every other piece of software I use will probably be really compatible and I loved Lion aside from the Flash crashes. ) I use Flash for work and desperately need it. I don't understand why Adobe hasn't addressed any of this. I think it has to do with their rift with Apple (and Apple not allowing Flash compatibility with their mobile devices.)

Is it CS5 that you were using? I've been running Flash lots on Lion and had it on briefly just for testing since I updated to ML. No problems or crashes whatsoever.

@Dekan That's actually really good to hear. I'm using CS 5.5--I don't have a copy of CS 5 (bought 5.5 at the beginning of the year.) Maybe 5 works but 5.5 doesn't? I actually called Adobe multiple times and they told me to start using Snow Leopard.

Anyone else have problems with CS 5.5 Flash & Lion?

Many problems with Lion are resolved by a CLEAN install. The upgrade caused me no end of pain.

Thanks @Dysfunction. I did a clean install multiple times. In fact, this was on a brand new computer and I ultimately de-installed all my new software, did a clean install, the installed just Flash (CS 5.5) and still had the problem.

Nice, did you check with Adobe? It may well be a known/fixed issue. I don't use Flash, but have no issues with the rest of Creative Suite (5.5)

Oh, for sure I checked with Adobe. I was freaking out! (my old computer had died, luckily I didn't lose anything and I upgraded everything.) Adobe ultimately told me to de-install Lion and just use Snow Leopard. I did and have absolutely no problems. BTW, I didn't have any issues with the rest of CS 5.5 either (I use AE & photoshop all the time too.) The problem was specific to CS5.5 flash pro. (sigh)
