Not to waste anybody's time, I have googled the **** out of my problem and came up with zip....

I open a word document, cut and place a image (generally sourced from a pdf) and all I get is a blank box. But sometimes I'll get parts of the main pdf page I took the image from but not the image (no it's not the 'image placeholder' option problem either, its unticked). This all started around two weeks ago when Word wouldn't save a document properly, it would save it as a .tmp file that wouldn't ever change.

Apple tech thought it was hardware based because the disk wouldnt repair. Now I have a new hard drive and new copy of Office 2011. However the problem is back, not only on old documents I saved but new documents??

Help please before I do something really nasty to my mac pro.

Cheers,

Thats usually because word hasn't got enough memory to display the images, or the fact that in the PDF the images have the CMYK color space which Word cannot handle

You are best off pasting the images into an image editor (I would recommend Seashore or Pixelmator) and then exporting to Jpeg, then importing the images

You might even get away with just pasting then into one of those apps, then copying again to paste into word since those apps should convert any images to the RGB space

Thanks [louishen], kind of makes sense. However, why did I never have this problem before? I have been creating Word docs taking images from pdf's for over a year (even saved high resolution images and they always pasted with no problems).

I cant figure out what it might be?

Got images to appear

I am laying out a book in MS Word 2008 and spent hours trying to figure out why the first pic cut/paste fine like usual, but the rest of my images weren't appearing. I finally figured it out and wanted to share in case this is anyone else's problem.

For the book, I changed the spacing to "Exactly" and set it at 14 pt.
Word seemed to not allow me to put my pic in with that.

I clicked on the Single Spacing icon in the formatting toolbox for the line I am inserting the pic into and the pics appear just fine now.

Hope that helps someone else going crazy like I was.
