Hi.
I am trying to learn some things in iMovie, like, Snap to Beats etc.
However, when I look at tutorials, the interface looks different than what I see on my Mac. Screen Shot 2017-02-16 at 22.48.49.jpg Screen Shot 2017-02-16 at 22.49.21.jpg

I have attached screen shots of the tutorial and my screen.

Also, when it says things like how to open 'advanced tools' it does not work on my version? And the snap to beats option is not there, it just has 'snapping'

Please help??

Check which version of iMovie app you have (click on iMovie > About iMovie). If it's not 11, which is what that tutorial is based on, you will need to update.

It is version 10.1.4.
I cant seem to find a newer version? Could I have a 'lite' version? I cant find a different good version to download, and in the app store it says I have the latest version.

You have the latest version, 10.1.4. There is no lite version.

The tutorial that you are using is for iMovie 11(as it says on the screenshot), which is, in fact, version 9. Here are tutorials for iMovie 10. Just be aware that the GUI changes between 10.0, 10.1, 10.1.2 etc.

Also consider using iMovie Help. Pretty much all you'll want to do will be in there.

Is that the same ploy as when windows went from 8 to 10? :)

It was always v9, but was called after the version of iLife that it was bundled with, as were all the previous versions of iMovie. With the demise of iLife, it reverted to version numbers.

Couldn't comment on Windows.:D

Long story behind that Sue. According to Microsoft, they didn't want folks to be confused: Windows 95, Windows 95 SE, Windows 97, and..... Windows 9 ? :D
