I just installed Kingston 8GB (2x4 GB modules) 1066MHz DDR3 notebook memory into my mid 2010 macbook pro. When I attempted to boot into OS X Mountain Lion, I get stuck at the Apple icon with the spinning wheel under it. I am able to load into target disk mode, and to boot into Windows 7 (which I am currently on and works perfectly). I see through windows that the 8.00 GB RAM is recognized. Anyone know what I can do to fix this? (nearest apple store is an hour away, and do not have time to go back and forth as I am a college student)
thanks in advance

You've got the correct memory modules so that can't be the reason. Try booting into SAFE mode if you can: Hold down your shift key as soon as you hear the chime. If you can get into SAFE mode, click on your Apple menu and click on "About this Mac". Let's see what it says.

well, the progress bar for booting into safe mode went about 1/3 of the way and then disappeared and it got stuck again.

If you cannot find a solution. I would try reinstalling the original ram...to be 100% sure everything with the computer is ok.

- If the computer works ok with the original ram...then reinsert the upgrade ram.
- If the computer acts "weird" again with the new ram...maybe something is wrong with the new ram.

Maybe time to return the new ram...and get a replacement set.

Change RAM sticks one at a time.

Put Apple RAM back in. Boot machine. Power off computer.

Remove one stick of Apple RAM, replace that slot with Crucial RAM.

Power machine back on, let it boot up. Maybe look around. Power back down.

Go back and replace other stick of Apple RAM with Crucial RAM.

Please let us know if this works.
