Over the last month I've discovered that almost every email (or perhaps every one) I send from my @mac.com email address which I've had forever (using Apple mail.app) is going to the recipients' junk folders. I seem to be getting all my mail sent to that address, but when I reply to the mail I receive, the replies, too, go to the junk folder.
I have no idea where to begin to try to correct this problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You cannot control what happens on the other end of the email pipeline. It is up to the settings on the receipient's system. However, if you have advertising or a signature that gets included with your emails selling something, or appearing to do so, that can trigger the junk filter. Keep your email clean and you can minimize the impact.

All my emails are just personal emails between me and family, friends and acquaintances or doctors or other people who I engage for handyman work or tech support, etc. I have no advertising or even a signature block. So there's nothing in the content that would spark a junk filter.
As far as the recipients' systems are concerned, I can't understand how suddenly, virtually overnight, their systems would all change how the pipeline works regardless of the mail app they use.
I don't think this is the answer, but thanks for taking the time to respond.

Well, it IS the answer, you cannot change the behavior of the receiving email system. I did note that you are using the "@mac.com" address, which might be a contributing factor. Apple now uses "@icloud.com" as the mail address. @mac.com email is forwarded to the same name at iCloud.com. So maybe the folks seeing the email as spam see the mac.com address as a general junk address? I haven't seen that issue, but just tried to send to mac.com and got an "undeliverable" response. Apple changed from mac.com to me.com to iCloud.com over the years.

Thanks for the response. If that's the case, do I need to create a new account in my Apple mail.app client with the address XXX to replace the YYY account? Interesting that you got an undeliverable response. I don't seem to have any trouble receiving mail at the @mac.com address. Only sending it.

Not a new account, just try sending an email to the iCloud.com address to see if you receive it, and if you do, then in the Mail/Preferences/Accounts area where it says "Email address" change it to the iCloud.com name and see how that works. It may be good for you to se up a support call through Apple.com/support to see what they have to say.

I have to agree with Jake on this one. The @mac.com address disappeared years ago. I am genuinely surprised that you can still send these or, to be more accurate, that the recipients can receive and access them.

Follow Jake’s advice and use the iCloud.com version.

This seems to have worked. Thank you. I still have questions, though, so I'll take your suggestion and see what support says. I appreciate your help.

I suggest that you remove your valid new e-mail address, as well as the old one, from your post above (#5), using the Edit button. There is a time limit, so if you don't do it soon enough, a moderator can do it. If you leave it, it can be harvested and you could be inundated with junk mail.

Whoops. Looks like it's too late to edit the posts with my addresses in them. I'll need to find out how to contact the moderator and ask him/her to do that for me. Thanks again.

I had the same experience with my .Mac emails going to friends' spam folders. I have had that email address forever, and once I changed it to .icloud, the problem seems to have disappeared.
