My son gave me his old QuickCam Communicate STX (M/N:V-UAM14A), which I have connected to my MacPro Desktop, running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

The Microphone does work just fine with Skype, but the video is not working.

I have read the specs, and it appears that this model webcam is not compatible with Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get the video to work on my MacPro?

The Supported operated systems page for that webcam says that it isn't compatible with Unix, Linux or Mac OS.

So you're out of luck for getting a driver to make this thing work.

The Logitech HD Webcam C615 is the only Mac-supported webcam they have and is available from them for $70 or on Amazon for $55.

Purchase a webcam that is supported by Mac and you'll have a pretty smooth experience using it with Skype and other applications..

Do you have a webcam that you use on a Mac?

What webcam does anyone use with their Mac?

I have an iMac and it came with the built in iSight camera so I don't need an external webcam.

There are some external USB cameras that work with OSX. I will see if I can find a list and post it of at least a few of them. I have a newer Logitech that works for sure. The iSight built into my iMac looks better though.

Thanks! A list would be a big help ....

I have a built-in Mic on my iBook G4, but no webcam. The Logitech Webcam does not even work with my iBook G4, which I bought in June of 2004, running Tiger 10.4. I think if I upgraded to 10.5 the webcam might work, but I want to stick with 10.4 because I have lots of older software, some that won't work with 10.5.
