Until recently I could add or amend Notes on my iPhone or iPad and the changes would appear in Notes on my iMac. Alas no more. I can see them if I logon to iCloud on my mac but Notes remains as dead as a dodo. I've Googled extensively and followed all advice including this comprehensive article for example 14 solutions to fix iCloud Notes not syncing across devices. Still nothing. I would appreciate any further advice.

Have you looked in System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud and made sure Notes is checked?

First thing I did... and yes it is. Syncing between Notes on ipad, iPhones and icloud.com works just fine - it's just the Notes App.

Another place "Notes" are mentioned is in System Preferences > Internet Accounts > iCloud. I don't know if you have multiple internet accounts listed there, but they sometimes sync to another account.

One last thought: Did you check the "Folders" option under the View menu? If you have the "On My Mac" account enabled, you may be looking in the wrong Folder.

Hi Bob. I do have other accounts - none have Notes enabled and no i do not have 'On My Mac' enabled. It's curious isn't it.

Do the iPhone and iPad notes sync between each other?

Bizarrely, Notes sudden came to life yesterday. Over the last couple of weeks I had rebooted my mac a couple of times (the last time being five days ago) and had regular checked Notes which remained in a coma. Yesterday, I went into Notes on the off chance and immediately is started syncing.

Most odd but it now seems to be working just fine.... and syncing quickly with any changes on other devices.

I've been having this issue for a few months now and it remained unresolved until 5 minutes ago ! And just like magic, I'm now getting sync between my iMac and iPhone 11 !

This is weird.... scary .....

You are not the only user having issues related to iCloud data bases recently, including myself.

One can always try checking and seeing what Apple's servers are up to but no guarantee that they are up to date or accurate that I am aware of using that URL...

It's been a while since your post, but I'd like to add some information. I get how frustrating it is when your notes won't sync up! It's like, "Come on, technology, work with me here!" First things first, make sure your internet connection is solid. Sometimes a weak signal can throw everything off.

Next, check if you're logged into your Notes Online account on all your devices—sometimes that simple step fixes everything. If that doesn't work, don't sweat it too much! Contacting their support team is the way to go. They're usually super helpful and can dig into the nitty-gritty tech stuff to get things sorted. Here's their site: tps://notesonline.om/notepad (outdated link removed). Give it a shot and hopefully, you'll be syncing smoothly in no time!

Too many devices to list
iCloud, like any cloud based syncing service, is going to run into hiccups once in a while. While I don't think the status of iCloud was at fault here dating back to 2023 when this thread was started (given that some devices could still sync), a decent place to start is with Apple's own system status page to see if it's a "them" problem or a problem on your end.
