I bought a new Radeon 9600 Pro Mac&PC graphics card (100-435065) on eBay but it came without any software. It works perfectly on my digital and analog displays under both Tiger and Leopard. But when booting a "Nine" system, all I get are whitish grey screens. The boot starts Ok and the Extensions that are being installed show up across the bottom as they should, but as the boot finishes I get an instant flash of my background picture and then both screens go grey and everything freezes.
The Option Key disk selection process works Ok, and Classic functions perfectly under Tiger. A boot after an OS-9 Clean Install starts Ok, but then the system freezes at the first window of the system initialization menu. ATI says that there are no OS-9 drivers for the Radeon 9600, but I'm sure I saw references to them in one of the forums.
Would anyone happen to have OS-9 (i.e. Classic) drivers/software that would work with this graphics card? I do not need the inherent performance abilities of the 9600 under O/S-9, just the ability to boot and use a few simple programs.
