21.5' iMac, running Snow Leopard (Upgraded from 17')
I'm at my wit's end! I've tried forums for mac and for the torrent program, VUZE with no luck.

I used VUZE for years with 100% success on my 17' intel Mac, and a few weeks ago I was given a new 21.5' mac running Snow Leopard.

I put the settings for VUZE in exactly the same as my old version. the Security tab tells me the firewall is NOT ON, that all connections are being allowed. I port forwarded the port i'm using in VUZE to the modem/router as before. I set up a static ip address, I 'unchecked' UPnP in preferences in VUZE - basically i've done everything that's been suggested, but no one can crack the mystery of why I get yellow smilies and a message from my torrent site administrator that reads:

The tracker has determined that you are firewalled or NATed and cannot accept incoming connections.

This means that other peers in the swarm will be unable to connect to you, only you to them. Even worse, if two peers are both in this state they will not be able to connect at all. This has obviously a detrimental effect on the overall speed.

ANY HELP IS SO VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!

P2P issues are usually to do with the ISP applying blocking and speed limits, possibly a proxy problem. Have you discussed what you're experiencing with your ISP?

[Note] you may find this post closed if you venture beyond strict Forum rules concerning P2P exchanges.

I spoke with the apple care guy, and he said everything i've tried is what he would do. The only thing he could think of to try was, this new 21.5 iMac is replacing a 17' mac, and my router/modem is saying all the rules apply to "this computer" with the name of the 17'

He showed me where on the mac to find its name, but i have no idea how to change it on my modem -- i'll keep searching for it tho!

Just so you know, Vuze does not comply with certain protocols which a lot of torrent admins need their users to comply with in order to become part of a hive. On the list of recommended and suggested clients is Transmission. I'd suggest using it as well, as I switched from Vuze to it, and right off the bat there's zero bloat unlike crappy Vuze which is just bloated out the behind.

I like Transmission a lot. Give it a go.

thanks for the idea, but i'm sure no matter program i used, that blocked port would still be a trouble yes??

Anyway, problem resolved -- switched computers on the router/modem and green smileys instantly! never a sweeter page than a "congratulations you fixed it!" I like vuze for that alone ;)
