I have been a user of Paragon NTFS for a while. But I wanted to uninstall it and have come across some disturbing finds.

1. Paragon installs something called Paragon Software Facebook Agent when it installs. Not nice to do that, Paragon. And it was NOT uninstalled when I uninstalled Paragon NTFS. I found it with Etrecheck and then Find Any File. Paragon spread crapola all over the place.

2. Even using FAF to find everything with "Paragon" in the name, I have three files that refuse to be deleted, saying I don't have the proper authority to do so. Here is the image from FAF:

The are listed as "Document" but they won't move to the Trash, even in Safe mode. All three are in /private/var/db/oah but oah has the do not enter symbol and I can't find a way to eliminate it.

Any hints?

Try disabling SIP first to see if they will then allow deleting.

I've been looking at other websites who have posted articles/blogs on the same issue. Disabling SIP didn't work for them. I'll give it a go, but not optimistic.

Yeah, I ran into a similar problem removing USB Overdrive. You'll likely need to boot from an external clone, then delete the files while on that.

I decided to just live with it. Etrecheck says nothing from Paragon is loaded, so I'll just leave it alone. There may still be some debris on the drive, but I accomplished what I wanted, which was to get rid of Paragon.

Have you tried Trashit?

Rod, as I understand it, Trashit is to force the trash to empty, I can't move the files to the trash at all.

Oh, I didn't get that. So you can't actually move them?

Nope, can't even open the folder they are in. Locked out completely. Find Any File can find them, show me where they are, but I can't delete them from FAF, nor directly get to them with Finder or in Terminal.

What about if you were to open System Preferences > Security & Privacy. Then delete (-) any instance of Paragon found there?

Saw this on Paragon's website "Microsoft NTFS is one of the primary file systems of Windows. If you work on a Mac computer and need to read or write files from HDD, SSD or a flash drive formatted under Windows, you need Microsoft NTFS for Mac by Paragon Software." Possibly wasn't installed by Paragon but by a Microsoft application
