Hi.
I have bought a iMac 27" and want to play PartyPokers webbased version. But it won't work on my new iMac. I have an Macbook Air and it works fine on this computer. I has an older version of Mac Os. Could it be the problem. PartyPoker says that their webbased software works fine on the new Snow Leopard. Anybody who can helt me?

What do you mean "It won't work"? What doesn't work? Do the web pages load properly? Is it the graphics that are messed up? You need to be more specific.

Regards.

No PartyPoker for us Lions

I too have this problem (never owned a Mac before the 27 incher). After numerous emails to PartyPoker tech support I think that at this point it is safe to say that we are out of luck. (the emails are provided below-in reverse order) I am running the most current versions of Flash and Java (as of today 2 Sept 2011)

Dear Bob,

Thank you for contacting Customer Service.

I have checked the matter with our technical team. What they advise is to make sure you are using the latest java version. If this version is not available on your PC, please download it from the following page:

Java for OS X Lion

After you finish the download, please try again to access our lobby.

Unfortunately, Lion OS is not supported from our software. However, we are working on a version which will support this operating system as well.

In case you have further questions, we will be more than happy to assist you. We are available 24/7 by e-mail, live chat and phone.

Thank you for choosing us as your online gaming site.

Best regards,

Sonya

Thank you for your reply but I am still unsuccessful.

1. I cleared the cache and deleted all of the cookies.
2. With the firewall turned OFF, PartyPoker/anywhere still won't load.

Your description of how to configure the ports:

After that please follow these steps in order to configure the firewall (the ports 2147 and 443 are used by our program):

1. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
2. From the View menu, choose Sharing.
3. Click the Firewall tab.
4. Click New.
5. From the Port Name pop-up menu, choose Other.
6. In the Port Number, Range or Series field, type in the following: 2147, 443
7. In the Description field type in: PartyPoker

The above description does not match my OS X 10.7.1. There is NO Firewall option here.

The Firewall section is in System Preferences/Personal/Security& Privacy
Here I can turn the firewall on or off. I would think that with the firewall OFF, there shouldn't be a firewall issue but PartyPoker/anwhere still doesn't load. It says loading please wait but it never does.

Ok, so if I turn the firewall ON, there is an advanced tab that has 3 check boxes:
1. Block all incoming connections (not checked)
2. Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections (this was checked by default)
3. Enable Stealth mode (not checked)

There is also a blank window with a + sign that shows a "tree" of all my files, applications, folders, desktop etc etc. I assume that if PartyPoker was an application I could click on it and assign the ports that you suggest, but obviously I can't do that because it isn't an application.

So, at this point I don't know what to do next.

Anxiously await your reply.

I have a new iMac running OS X 10.7.1
Java for OS X 10.7 installed.

I go to Partypoker.com and try to run the program in Firefox (6.0) and Safari (5.1).

I get a pop up window that says "loading the PartyPoker.com Anywhere Lobby. Please wait…."

After 10 minutes, nothing happens.

I clicked on "read our FAQ" which generated the following page with an error 404 page not found

http://www.partypoker.com/anywhere/faqs.html

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

Bob

I don't know what's going on with your system or if you're doing anything wrong, but I just accessed the site and had no trouble entering the parlor ready to play.

I did receive the 404 message but continued on by clicking on the "Poker Table" where it took me to the main site. I then received an alert from the system telling me that the site certificate had been verified and it was asking for permission to access. I gave it permission and the Poker Parlor appeared ready to play.

I'm running Lion 10.7.1 on an iMac (mid 2011 model) with the latest Java. I used the Chrome web browser to access. I also use Safari and Opera but have not tried with either of those.

No PartyPoker for us Lions

Well I don't know what I'm doing wrong then. I have a new 27" iMac with the latest Flash and Java too. I was all excited about Chrome so I installed it but I get the same results.
Question: Did you upgrade to Lion or was it the first OS on this Mac?
Is your firewall turned off?

I'm thinking that if you upgraded to Lion and PartyPoker was working before with the Firefwall configured as suggested by PartyPoker; that the firewall settings might have moved during the upgrade. I can't see why the firewall should be causing me this problem because I have it turned off (default)

I too am running OS X 10.7.1

I appreciate your feedback. I'd like to get to the bottom of this but please bear with me because I'm a Mac newbie.

Bob

If this site is using Java, then as long as you meet their minimum Java requirement, it shouldn't and doesn't matter what OS you are running. That's the whole idea of Java to begin with..the fact that their "technical team" said that they don't support Lion just means that they aren't very technical at all..

You're not alone. I am not able to get it to load in Safari, Chrome, Firefox or Opera on two different machines. '11MBA shipped with Lion, '06 MBP upgraded to Lion.

I get the loading the Anywhere Lobby window/tab and that's it. Have let it sit in each of the 4 browsers for 5-10 minutes. Clicking on the FAQ button in that window takes me to a 404 page.

Cannot download the client either, in any of them. Clicking on the link to download the full client merely refreshes the existing page and nothing else.

There definitely is no software firewall, a/v or any other similar thing on any of my Macs.

Just to check if it was a router problem, checked on my Win7 machine. Guess they don't have an online play for Windows, but the client downloaded just fine.

I just checked again and it appears the client downloaded OK. It should be located here:

/Users/you/PARTYPokerDir/PARTYPokerlibNEWDAJNILib.jnilib

It also creates another folder here:

/Macintosh HD/Applications/PartyGaming/PartyPoker/

Found the fix. Java did not enable itself during the install. You need to:

Quit the browser

then open up Java Preferences found in your Applications / Utilities folder

On the General tab, at the top, put a check in the box "Enable applet plug-in..."

Yep, thanks to bobtomay. Mine was already enabled and that's why it downloaded OK. Have fun playing poker.

Good Deal!

No thanks to party poker. I sent them an email also.

They emailed back and said they couldn't find my account with that email address.
(I had switched over to FullTilt years ago - and still have about $1k sitting in there I can't touch  - and have some ancient unused hotmail account tied to partypoker)
They suggested I call them, set up an account and make a deposit.
I emailed back and asked why I would want to make a deposit if their software would not work on my computer?
No response from them on that one.
