Power Source: Power Adapter, Battery Not Charging

I've been experiencing a chronic charging issue with my 2019, 13-inch MacBook Air that’s running on Big Sur currently. It says "Power Source: Power Adapter, Battery Not Charging," regardless of whether I'm plugging in the charger or not. It'll continue to quickly drain battery power and stays dead for a while.

Here’s what I have tried so far:
  • Using different power adapters
  • Checking the charging ports from any damage or debris
  • Changing the Battery Optimization settings (tried both on and off, doesn’t make a difference)
  • SMC Reset
  • NVRAM Reset
  • Full factory reset
None of these have been helpful so far and I’m unsure that the Apple Genius Bar will be able to help either, based on what I’ve been reading. Does anyone have any other options for possibly solving this?

Are you using the power adapter that it came with? How about the cord... the original or a 3rd party? If 3rd party, whose? What is the adapter plugged into exactly (wall outlet, surge protector, etc)?

I used the original charger and another new charger from SZPower. I have plugged them into a wall outlet.

And the cord? Even if using the original, it may be worth trying a different one in case the original is defective. Unfortunately even the Apple ones fail, with a weak spot being right where the connector meets the cable. With USB-C cords, you need to be careful on those because the quality is all over the place. I personally use and recommend Anker's PowerLine cords.

I have tried two different cords but I'll check out the power cord you recommended, thank you for your help!

No problem. As part of your troubleshooting, you should also do an SMC reset. Instructions linked below.
