Preview App- Add Signature Reports Need Camera or track Pad: Have Both

Hi All!
On my 2007 MacBook Pro using 10.11.6, there is a trackpad and an iSight camera. Both work.

In Preview App, when I click the Sign icon or go to Tools > Annotate > Signature > Manage Signatures, I get this pop up:
"A trackpad or iSight camera is required to create a signature."

I sure can't figure out what's wrong, even after trying SMC reset and PRAM reset and letting Onyx do all of tis tricks. (Onxy is often the salvation when things go haywire, but not this time.)

Please note that the computer is old (2007) and the OS is 10.11.6 (the newest this MBP can use). Do you guys know any way to make Preview app realize that there is both a trackpad and an iSight camera, even on this elderly computer?

Hi Paul:

Just a quick observation.... I read thru Apple's instructions for using Preview to record a signature and it appears that they show it working from High Sierra - Big Sur. (You're running El Capitan.)

There may be a way to do it prior to High Sierra? Perhaps someone else would know.

Thanks Chscag for taking time to reply & for removing the person's reply post leading to the bootleg software site.

It's interesting that Apple instructions show it working for High Sierra - Big Sur, yet my El Capitan has the signature button to click. Maybe it used to work & got disconnected in an update along the way.

At least there's aways the tried & true Print-Sign-Scan method.
