I had recorded a screen recording with quicktime, but had the "microphone" set to 'none' , as a result l have the full video but no audio which was essential :(
l should have checked the audio settings and set it to ' built in microphone' l had thought it was the volume button set too low, is there anyway of getting the audio?

If the microphone setting was indeed set to none, then there wasn't an audio recording made. Here's a relatively easy way to check and see whether the audio was recorded https://osxdaily.com/2012/07/23/rip-the-audio-track-from-a-video-with-quicktime/ If there is no audio in the clip, there will be no sound in the exported file.

You have a couple of options for fixing this problem:
1. The simplest fix is to re-record the video with the audio recording turned on.
2. Create a new recording that is audio only and add that to your video. You can play your existing video in the background at the same time to help keep you on track

If you are recording someone speaking it may be difficult to sync the sound from a new recording to the appropriate mouth movements on your existing video. In that case, it's probably easier to just re-record the video with appropriate sound settings.

When you are recording the screen, you need to have a separate mic to record the audio.

Not quite true. Screen recordings using QuickTime Player give you the option to use Mac's internal microphone.

On my iMac QuickTime seems to default the audio input to None so I have to go in before each screen recording to change to the audio input I want to use. No matter what you have the system's normal audio input to you have to make this change in QuickTime Player before starting the recording.

I get used to recording video calls and video presentation by using Quicktime + Soundflower (which helps grab the internal sound). However recently after a system upgrade, there's something wrong with the audio capture, and I get another cheap and easy recorder called RecMaster.. No audio capture problem until now.

I just double-checked this with a short screen recording. I can use the internal mic as sound input.
