Hi. I would like to know if it's possible to remote desktop Vista PC from a Mac with direct Ethernet cable connection. I read that it's possible to transfer files from PC to Mac this way.

The purpose is that I would like to use my Quicken 2008 on my PC from my Mac and remote desktop thru wireless network seems not fast enough

So bascially, the PC and Mac will both be on wireless network and plus direct ethernet connection.

yes, that's possible, you can try the application named 'Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection 2.0' in order to remote control your PC with Mac, but I'm doubt about the transfer files with this way! because no matter what kind of scenario your trying to do, all the data still need to be transfered via your wireless network connection.

Do you have a router with available ethernet ports? That would be the easiest solution. Simply connect both computers to the router. You can turn off the wireless connection. You would then enable file sharing on the PC and access the files in the normal way. I don't have a PC with Vista but I do it with XP.

What type of wireless connection do you have? 802.11 g should be fast enough. We use both remote desktop and VNC at work and I was able to run wirelessly over a g network. 802.11 n will be very fast and will easily handle remote desktop.
