HI ...
Like so many foolish people out there, I managed to damage the display connector (or someone before me) when removing the display. (1 of four connections that must be disconnected when removing the display)
The connector lifted partially away from the pins still soldered to the logic board. I managed to re-align the connector over the pins and re-soldered the connector mount tabs (pitifully small support for a connector that can get much hard handling
Here’s a picture below, just before soldering support tabs right & left.
White arrows: .. connections to be re-soldered…RED arrows: two missing pins! … Yes… they fell out and i lost them (sigh!)
I need some pins to shove in and re-solder.
Does anyone out there have some?
This connector should be on many logic boards.. and probably is in high demand from people who repair iMacs I’m not a repair person.. just trying to fix my computer after a “real” repair person forgot to connect the WiFi cable to the logic board after replacing the video/display card. An’ I didn’t want to make the trip back to have him fix it… when I could easily do it .. what could go wrong? .. I watched a youtube video!
I don’t need the connector.. (but having one would be nice) Amazingly. the computer is working fine without those two pins! (at least it seems to be working fine) However, I suspect they are needed for something. If you have some pins .. I’ll pay whatever
It should be easy to insert the two missing pins and re-solder …
Thanks much, Regards, Michael Lambert
PS: Can't get them on eBay, or from parts people... they only sell used working boards, never boards for parts
