Safari is not working for me, getting the error message

x This web page was reloaded because a problem occurred.

It is also moving up and down.

Cant use it on any websites at all.

Any ideas please?

Did you restart your Mac?
Yes I did. It was after I restarted that this happened but I restarted again.
having deleted history it seems ok now but very sluggish compared to Chrome

It is also moving up and down.
That is most likely due to some websites now insisting on having an ad on every screen. So on a long page, when you scroll down, the ad pops in, shifting stuff up and down. Even with an ad blocker, the space is allocated, so it happens even then. Very annoying. I generally don't go back to those pages.

Yeah, those web pages that ask me to turn off my Ad Blocker get a quick click on the X of the Tab. Done.
