Setting up Yahoo as my main mail browser

want to make it so when i hit my mail icon on my dock yahoo opens as my default. . have been trying but having trouble anyone know a good site that has directions or have an easy way to do this . .

If you want to open your internet browser at Yahoo.com when you click the Mail icon:

1. Go to Yahoo.com.
2. Select all of the URL (http://www.yahoo.com), click and hold, then drag to the desktop. There should be an icon on your desktop with Yahoo.com as it's name. You can close your browser now.
3. Command (apple button) click the Apple Mail icon in your dock.
4. A new Finder window should open with the application selected.
5. Press Command+I to get info on the program.
6. On the top left of that Info window, you'll see a small icon. Click it and press Command+C to copy it.
7. Close all open windows.
8. Select the icon on your desk that you made in step 2 and press Command+I to get info.
9. Select the small icon at the top left and press Command+V to paste Mail's icon over it.
10. Drag the "real" Mail out of your dock, you'll see a poof when you let go.
11. Place the "Mail" icon in your dock, to the left of the Trash.

Now when you click that icon it will take you to Yahoo.com.

I think you're asking to have Mail open when you click the stamp icon and open you Yahoo mail from there. If I'm correct about what you're asking, Yahoo should have explicit directions for setting up in Mail on their site. Need to have all the information for the incoming and outgoing mail server, etc. and it will be easy to do and work perfectly. What part is not working for you?

You can't use yahoo as POP account unless you pay for the yahoo mail upgrade. Even then I don't think it works with mac mail. You need outlook express for mac. I've tried to set up yahoo along side gmail and it doesn't work. It tells about it in the yahoo mail help inside your mail box.

Gmail works great though. It's not to hard to do and there are pictures and step by step instructions for setting it up. That will make it so that when you click the mail stamp it recives mail from your gmail account. Or you can use what ever else, just not yahoo.

FREE yahoo will not work with OSX's Mail application because free yahoo has no POP3 option. If you pay for Yahoo like with their SBC DSL or just pay, you get POP3 email and Mail in OSX will work with ANY POP3 account. I have 2 accounts with Yahoo and both work fine with Mail.

So it does work with Mail? When I was trying it in september, it said it had no support for Mail but it did for outlook for mac. If so, good to know!

When you get SBC Yahoo DSL (Now AT&T I guess) you get yahoo Pop email. I have been using that with mail for 3 years now. So any Yahoo Pay account should work.

I didn't know you had to pay for Yahoo to use it on Mac. Mcatt66 you might want to go with gmail unless you need to use Yahoo for some reason.

You don't have to pay to use it on a mac, You just have to pay if you want to set it up as a POP3 account. I think you have to pay on Windows to.

Oh...I didn't check it out very closely because I just went for gmail since I got such good reports about it. I've had gmail now for about 2 weeks since my trial of .Mac ran out. I'm very satisfied with it.
