Something is blocking port 80
telnet: connect to address 192.168.0.15: Connection refused

and I can't find out what. Any ideas anyone.
Port forwarding is on and correct
It's not the Firewall.
It's not pfctl
It's not malabytes

it's not the webserver - that is active and works fine on port 443 but nothing works on port 80.

I['m told Sky arent blocking port 80. Would be drastic if they were it's so common a port.

It used to work bu t now it doesn't.

but... nothing I do can find why or where its blocked.

I googled your issue. There is so many things that could be going on you may need to try several things.
how to find out what is blocking port 80 on a mac

Can you even access the internet? If not the link won't help. I don't know what Sky is a reference to.

You can use the Network Utility to do a port scan and just set the range to look at port 80. If it shows that it is not open (or even if it is open) then try:
  1. go to Applications.
  2. open utilities.
  3. open Activity Monitor.
  4. click on the Memory tab,
  5. look at the ports and the processes using them. Find port 80 and select it.
  6. go to the view on the menu bar and choose Quit process.
If that works you will know which app is creating a problem.

My guess is something you have installed has blocked the port.

Hi, thanks.
But, doesn’t this show the number of ports using a process rather than the actual port being used?
Yes, it has to be something I’ve installed, but what? Is what’s driving me nuts :)

Fixed.
I used the Python server to check if it could actuall open and bind to port 80, then checked from an external site - and yes the port was open now.
Closed it, went back to Apache and checked the config. OK.
Restarted Apache --- again. And presto.
I think runing the python server kickstarted it...

Thanks for all t he advice guys. appreciated

Glad you got it working! It is very hard to diagnose a problem especially not knowing the total configuration of a network setup.
