The card has my music library and photos on it. It suddenly stopped working as I was listening to some music. The icon was no longer on my dsektop and nothing happens when I reinsert it. Any ideas about how to retrieve the data? My photos are mostly on iCloud, but as far as I know you can't back up iTunes.

It looks like your Lite SD has succumbed to an early demise.

What you can do is, with the SD attached, open Disk Utility and see if it is shown there and, if yes, run First Aid on it.

If the SD is defunct, you seem to have a backup re your photos, thank goodness.

As far as iTunes/Music is concerned, you can backup your music if on a Mac computer in various ways eg you can pay Apple for a total BU or use an External Hard Drive. Here are some articles on that:

You might want to go through some of the Google hits from those who have suffered the same demise and maybe they have some good idea of resurrecting or file recovery that actually works from such flash drives:

PS: a miscellaneous note I came across you might want to double-check:
I am a technical support engineer with Transcend Information representing our Los Angeles office. I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your JetDrive Lite. If at all possible, can you ensure that your JetDrive Lite is firmly placed into your card reader? This issue seems to occur with cards in the SD slot not being "fully" inserted. Please let me know if this resolves your issue. If you require further assistance, please feel free to send an email to [email protected] with a reference to our discussion here,...

That would be a nice quick fixed if it actually worked... Wiggle it around in its connection slot and hopefully it might mount and start working again... ;-)

How do I fix an unreadable SD card on my Mac?
Simultaneously hold on Control + Command + Eject/Power button. It is the most reliable option, as it's not dependent on the OS. After that, try inserting your SD card once again. With this method, most people can find their SD card recognized on Mac now.Sep 19, 2023

I've never heard of that last one before but who knows...
