Looks like you've got a third party NTFS driver installed on that machine. You might check with the vendor's support here:
Contact | Tuxera

For what it's worth, we generally recommend Paragon NTFS for this purpose. Well worth the money if you work with NTFS volumes frequently:

You are all over the place here. Let me first point out a response on Tuxera's support forum to someone who posted that exact same message. Their advice was to update to the latest version of Tuxera.
Tuxera Support - View topic - TUXERA ERROR MESSAGE IN LION OS X

Your post is lacking significant details in what version of OS X you are running, and what version of Tuxera. I also can't figure out if you are only having problems when trying to install Windows, or you just have issues happening randomly. I don't know what you mean by "acting up". You wrote something about not reading DVDs and the hard drive "normally", but that is waaaaaaaay too vague to be meaningful.

We have had numerous posts where members have had problems using Tuxera NTFS. The only NTFS driver we recommend is Paragon NTFS which works well. Try removing Tuxera and see if your problems go away. You could also be having hardware problems with the optical drive which would have nothing to do with Tuxera. The same goes for your SD card reader unless the SD cards are formatted to NTFS which would be unusual.

And Tuxera should not have anything to do with reading DVDs or CDs unless it is taking over that task from the regular OS X driver.

If you are getting an error related to Tuxera when reading from the optical drive, have to recommend you fully uninstall Tuxera. You need to figure out whether your discs are dirty, the optical drive is dirty (try a few quick bursts from a can of compressed air into the slot), the optical drive is dying, or there is a problem with Tuxera.

I also have to recommend you get rid of Tuxera and spend the $20 for Paragon's NTFS driver - that is, if you want a painless NTFS driver.

I personally never had any issues with Tuxera when I've used it in the past, but my experience is pretty limited. Regardless, I doubt this has anything to do with the Tuxera NTFS driver. That should be having zero effect on the readability of the DVD drive specifically, and unless you formatted the flash drive and SD card in NTFS (most people use FAT32), then zero effect on those. I'm going to go along with chscag here... I think you may have a bigger hardware issue at hand. I would start by uninstalling Tuxera completely, then reboot and see if you continue to have issues. Don't install Paragon just yet... let's eliminate any 3rd party driver interference. You should be able to at least read an NTFS partition without a driver installed. Can you tell us how the SD card and flash drive are formatted? You can get that info from Disk Utility. Also run the Apple Hardware Test (instructions in my signature). If you continue to have issues, boot into Safe Mode and see if you have the same issues reading a DVD.

Unless you have a specific need to use NTFS on those, try reformatting them in FAT32. Doing so will mean losing all the data that is on them though. See if that helps.

Paragon has a demo of the NTFS driver available on their website. If you have data on those cards you can probably use the demo version to move the data before reformatting.
