Not sure if this is the right forum, do please move if not.

Not even sure if this is a software or hardware issue, but here goes...

When I upload files to say WeTransfer, OneDrive, DropBox etc after a few minutes my internet crashes and I lose the connection for anything from ten to 30 minutes.

I'm using Firefox 93, MacOS 10.13 on my 2011 iMac and have a FTTC connection.

Any ideas warmly appreciated

This does sound like a pain in the neck if you're losing connection for 10-30 minutes. Even for testing/troubleshooting purposes...really inconvenient for testing.

Some thoughts:

1. How large are these uploads? Really small (a megabyte for example)...large (gigabyte or more)?
2. Does it happen every single time you do one of these uploads...or sometimes?
3. Crazy idea...maybe try a different browser other than Firefox.
4. Does it happen on all your devices? For example if you have 2nd computer...does it happen with that computer as well? Or maybe try a tablet or cellphone.

What speeds are you paying for upload/download? Maybe uploading is being bottlenecked into causing this issue?

Thanks both.
ferrarr - I get 75Mbps download and 20 upload.
pigoo3 - I have been running a few tests loading to OneDrive. Files up to around 650Mb will load OK when selected individually or in batches of smaller files somewhere around that in total. Anything above brings the internet down. This is the case when using Firefox or Safari. For WeTransfer, the file size limits are somewhat less by a long way, although I have in the recent past have sent files totalling in excess of 1GB with this method without issue.

The problem is consistent and repeatable.

When I get the chance I'll try repeating using my wife's macbook. This may be a few days as she uses it during the day.

I should maybe have added that my iMac is connected directly to my router by Ethernet, so wifi is not an issue.
