Hallo, I am new to Mac and I like to have a userfriendly newsreader client for text usage mostly.
What I want is being able to find my own postings, replies and threads I have posted in.
I am used to Linux and in the "pan" nntp client one can set options to "score" posters and give it a color, anything like that will be fine.
Any recommendations?

Welcome to our forums.

The best NNTP news reader is the Mozilla Thunderbird News and Mail client which is free and can be downloaded from here.

Hallo, I am new to Mac and I like to have a userfriendly newsreader client for text usage mostly.

Apple dropped Open Transport all the way back with the release of Mavericks (OS X 10.9), and that coincided with most ISP's dropping access to the newsgroups. Loss of Open Transport caused most of the then-existing newsgroup readers for the Macintosh to break. That, combined with the lack of support from ISP's for newsgroups means that very few newsreaders were updated from that point onward. So it's hard to find ones that still work with recent versions of the MacOS.

Check out:

Unison (free, but no support or updates)

SeaMonkey (free, a suite of Internet tools)

Thank you guys,
As a new Mac user I am disappointed that the fonts are way too small for my eyes. I see people complaining about that for ten years or so.
Some newsreaders I tried are unreadable for me, others like "Pineapple" can at least increase font size.
Usenet for me is still a very usable source to find information of any kind so I really want to find something that meet my needs/wishes.
If it meets my needs I have no problem paying for it.

Without talking about a specific product, I can't tell you if the newsreader you are using can be set to use a larger font size by default.
But as a person over a certain age myself, I feel your pain.

Fortunately for us, you can easily make things bigger and easier to read just using the MacOS.

One option is to hold down the Command key and hit the "+" key while in many programs. Hitting Command-+ repeatedly will toggle fonts to successively larger sizes. Conversely, hitting Command-"-" (that is, minus) will make fonts incrementally smaller.

Another option is to go into:

Apple Menu --> System Preferences --> Accessibility --> Zoom --> enable Use Keyboard Shortcuts To Zoom

Once you have enabled that, from now on you can hit the keys: Option-Command-8 and your Mac will zoom-in to make things easier to see when you need it. Pressing Option-Command-8 again will zoom back out.

There are other options for zooming that you might find useful in the Zoom dialog box. For instance you can set things so that you can scroll with your pointing device to zoom-in and out.

The first thing to say is that the Youtube video is 6 years old and refers to a very much easier Operating System.

Secondly, the magnifying circle around the pointer is not a part of Mac OS, but is some purchased software which professional presenters, as on to Youtube, get from a third party. I have no experience of this, but maybe a Google search will provide an answer.
