Ventura send later email

Hi there, I've upgraded to Ventura and I just love that you can schedule emails to be sent later. My question is: How do you find those sent emails? I've looked in sent email and they don't appear there. I've done a search on the subject line and the email recipient and still I can't find it. But, I do know that the recipient is receiving the email. Thanks in advance.

Haven't personally used it, but once sent, the email should show up in the Sent folder just like emails that go out immediately. The only difference should be that the sent time to match when you wanted it sent out.

Caveat: I don't yet have Ventura; but from what I've read on numerous internet sites is that the scheduled emails initially reside in the "Send Later" Mailbox.

After sending, they appear in the "Sent" Mailbox.

However, people have commented that it may take "some time" (not specified) between sending and appearing in the Sent mailbox. And this time lag is apparently longer the further ahead the email is scheduled to be sent.

I can't give specific links because this is my take from visiting numerous sites.

No, I've checked again today and the emails definitely aren't in the sent mailbox. I even sent a test email to myself with a schedule of 5 minutes wait and it didn't appear in the sent mailbox.

That's very odd, if it is indeed sent, it has to show up in the sent folder, the delay should just determine a later time when things that normally happened immediately before happen again, it shouldn't change how they happen...

Traditionally, you have an Inbox for all incoming emails, Draft for emails being written, Outbox for emails being transmitted and Sent for emails that were successfully transmitted. This delay functionality might add a Delayed Outbox or something, but unnecessary since Outbox is already there, but Apple didn't ask my opinion.

I have Ventura on my Mac Studio but don't use Apple Mail, so someone else who uses Apple Mail can try this and report back what they're seeing.

Ok, I tested it on my MBP, described in my profile, with Ventura. Mail waiting to send showed up in a temporary folder in the left sidebar of Mail as "Send Later" until it was scheduled to go, then appeared in my "Sent" folder once it had been sent. The "Send Later" folder then disappeared again.

Much the same happens with me as Jake above. When I set a time delay the Send Later mailbox appeared in the side menu bar. Clicking on the message in that box opens it in the main window and it's labelled as Delayed Mail with the time to send. When the delay lapses the Message appears in my inbox (I emailed myself) but the Send Later mailbox remains and the email appears in both Sent Mail and in the Send Later mailbox, until I clicked on the Send Later mailbox, then it showed zero mail and promptly disappeared.
Kinda minor variation but the effect is the same.

Same problem with MBP 2017 with Ventura and Exchange. Once sent the sent email has vanished!!!

Welcome to our Forums and thank you for your post.

As you will see from the above, no definite explanation has arisen.

May I ask one question that hasn't been suggested before and may/may not be relevant?

Are the emails that you've scheduled for future sending been to people in your Contacts?

Or have they been to people in and outwith your Contacts?

I'm desperately trying to find a pattern.

In my case the emails were sent to people in my Contacts more than 10 hours ago and still missing them in the sent emails folder. I guess it's a bug of Ventura 13.0 since it's been public released just 2 weeks ago...

Not a general bug, because it's working fine for me. Might be a bug specific to a given mail provider, but that would be the problem of the mail provider to fix.

If it helps, in my post #6 above I sent my test email to my Gmail account from my @live.com (MS) account with no problem. I'll repeat the trial in a different way and get back.

Okay, back again. Not to confuse things here but I tried a slightly different bent on the topic.
I sent a delayed email to my wife on my iPhone (iOS16) using my gmail account set to send at 0800.



You can see the 1 item in the now visible Sent Later Mailbox.

Here it is;



Now, I went to my MBP and checked Mail. No Send Later Mailbox and no new mail in Drafts. I think this is a bit of an issue. I expected that creating a Delayed Mail item in iOS would have resulted in a Send later mailbox appearing in All Mail in macOS Mail.

At 0800 I check my wife's Mail app and my email has been received.
Check my iPhone and the Send Later Mailbox is gone but my email is not in sent mail.
Check my MBP and here's the big reveal. In macOS Mail my mailboxes are combined, so eg All Inboxes, All Drafts, All Sent etc.
There is my email in All Sent, BUT not from gmail but iCloud!
I now go back to my iPhone, where the Mailboxes are not combined and look in iCloud Sent Mail and sure enough there is my email, sent at 0800 as intended.



So, it's apparent that Delayed Mail is sent via iCloud (see above) no matter which email provider account is used to write the original.
I tried again with my Microsoft account and the same result.

Obviously this means that if I look in gmail > sent mail it does not appear but as I only use the combined (All Mailboxes) view in macOS it does, not so on my iPhone of course.

If I do a search in macOS Mail for Sent to my wife in All Mail its there but not in gmail.

It's possible that some email accounts may not work smoothly with this system but it works perfectly for me.

Rod, the OP had issues with delayed mail on Ventura. But your test on iOS was interesting. I can understand why unsent messages aren't sync'ed across until they are actually sent. Not sure if it's a bug or a design feature. However, on the "From" line, it showed exactly what I chose, which was NOT iCloud mail. To select the From, just tap on the prompt on the iPhone, select who you want to be sent from and it will use that address, from my testing.

Once sent, it shows up in the "Sent" folder on all my devices, so it was synced after sent.

Not sure why you think that, but I did try iCloud and it worked exactly the same as with my other email accounts. Opened a "Send Later" folder in Mail, until the send time arrived, sent the email, it appeared in Sent and Send Later was emptied and disappeared again.
