I downloaded VirusBarrier (VB) 1.1.4 from the Apple store last evening.
Definitions were automatically updated to 2020-6-16 so those are up to date.

Ran VB on the hard drive called Seagate, that is a 500GB external SSD drive connected via USB 3.0 that is currently my boot drive running Mojave, 10.14.6 on a 2012 Mac Mini.
VB is very very slow compared to MalwareBytes and DetectX Swift which I ran just before.
VB would literally take hours to complete, so I decided to see if I could use the Mac for some simple basic things like checking email and browsing the web while VB ran.
That worked for a while and then I must have clicked on something VB didn't like and it stopped scanning.
Could not get it to continue to scan so I quit VB and decided to run in during the night while I was sleeping.

Night comes and I start a VB scan on the "Seagate" drive, Gets to about 3/4 per the process bar then stops. No button to "continue"
Decide to turn it off and a message comes up that it's still scanning and do I want to continue or turn off the scan (3rd image)
I select "continue" but nothing happens - VB just stis there so after waiting 10 minutes or so I turn it off. That was at 3:00am in the morning.

At that time, I decide to try VB on another drive, maybe it doesn't like SSD's
Next drive is called "Macintosh HD", it is the original 5400 rpm spinner drive in the Mac Mini, a drive I currently don't use - it has macOS El Camino o it and all the data until about two weeks ago when it was my boot drive.
Same thing - VB does not complete the scan. I go through the same exercise with the message that the scan is not complete and with the same end result, ie none.
BTW - This VB scan ran from about 3:00am until 9:00am, so there should have been plenty of time to finish.

Couple of screen shots attached of the VB window at the point where the scan quit.

So at tis point VB is totally useless.

I thought there weren't any virus threats for Macs...

Krs,
Something is not clear to me.
You mentioned MacOS El Camino. To the best of my knowledge, that does not exist.
Closest match is OSX El Capitan 10.11.

Intego’s website indicates that Virusbarier 10.9 is compatible with MacOS Mojave.
Your issue could be a version conflict between Virrusbarrier and MacOS Mojave.

Cheers ... McBie

Yes, sorry - I keep doing that.
I mean El Capitan

As to compatibility -
I downloaded and launched VirusBarrier in Mojave which is my current boot drive.
Ran it on the boot drive with Mojave on that as the macOS, that is the drive called Seagate
Then ran it on the old internal Mini drive called Macintosh HD as if that were an attached drive - VB for that run was still launched in Mojave, I just selected the internal HD as the drive to check, I didn't install or launch VB from the drive with El Capitan on it. I shouldn't even have mentioned El Capitan, that is irrelevant.
I'm sorry for creating that confusion.

Malwarebytes and DetectX Swift complete the scan without any issues, so I don't think there is anything malicious on these drives that would cause VB to stop scanning.
Actually, VB "thinks" it's still scanning when I try to quit VB, but the file count stops incrementing even after I wait for a long time.

I have a couple of external backup drives connected to the Mini - I'll try running VB on one of those to see what happens.
Again - I will launch VB on Mojave, choose one of the external drives and see where this takes me.

BTW - Where do you get VB 10.9?
I ended up with VB 1.1.4 after I downloaded that from the App Store.
I wonder if I ended up with the wrong version.

PS: I just double checked.

VB 1.1.4 is supposed to be compatible with macOS 10.10 and up including Catalina - so even if I had run it using El Capitan as the macOS it should have been OK

My "El Camino" actually cpmes from 'El Camino Real' - the very long street in Silicon Valley that I visited every month for years while working in High Tech

What settings are you using for the scan?

Great ! I stand corrected.
I was expecting a bit more “ Spanish “ though. :)

What settings are you using for the scan?

Settings?
What settings?

When I first started with this software after download, I gave VB full access to all the files on my Mac, then I ran scan in Manual Mode (ie Manual Scan).

When I click on "Start Scan" I get a choice of what I want to scan and I pick one of the drives.

I just finished doing a scan of a back-up I did the 14 May 2020, get the same thing - scanned 3,686,912 files, process bar shows about 3/4 done and then the scan just stops.
When I try to quit VB I get a message that it's still scanning and do I really want to quit.
But when I select to not quit but continue to scan, nothing more happens.

Next I'm going to try to just scan a large folder on an external drive.

Sorry, I meant Preferences. I'm on Catalina, VirusBarrier Scanner v1.1.4.

Is "Scan with low priority" selected/enabled?
Is "Scan archives" enabled?

Here's what my version looks like.

This is what "Options" brings up.

No problem - I knew what you meant.

I basically left options at their default setting.
Only scan new and modified files is selected
Scan archives is selected
Scan with low priority is not selected

I have "Daily Scanning" disabled (since I only want to do one manual scan) so I don't get the option button.
But when I enable "Daily Scanning", the radio button "Disabled" is selected which sounded correct to me.

I just tried scanning a large folder (instead of a whole drive) on one of my back up drives - Sort of weird what happened there.
The process bar goes to the end, but when it reaches the end, it resets to about 3/4 finished and the scan file count continues.
That process keeps repeating - process bar to end, resets to 3/4 finish, scan file count continues
So far this has happened 5 times until I quit VB.
