My iPhone has a debit card that has been stuck waiting for verification for a long time now. After I enter the CVV code and agree to the bank's Terms and Conditions I get a message saying "Invalid Card". I contacted the bank. They said that the card was "deactivated" last December, even though I have a secure message from them saying they activated it on January 31st of this year. (I've never actually tried to use the card.)

I checked on iCloud.com and found the card as a payment option for my Apple Watch. It's mentioned for no other device. I deleted it from the Apple Watch, but that didn't remove it from the Wallet on my iPhone.

So, how do I get this card out of my Wallet?

When I'm told that the card is invalid, my only choices are to "Add a Card Later" or "Try Again". There seems to be no way to just remove the card.

Any ideas?

Mike,

Open Wallet > Click on Card > Top right, above the card is a tiny black circle with three dots > Click on that > Scroll to the very bottom > last item "Remove This Card".

Give it a shot and please post back.

This is all I see. I don’t see anywhere to cancel adding the card. When it fails the only choices are Try Again and Add A Card Later. Neither choice gets rid of the invalid card.

Hi Mike

Very disappointed and sorry that your Wallet doesn't appear to have the facilities I mentioned. I'm on iOS 12.4, but it's been this way for a while, I think.

Just in case you think I was making this up - I know you wouldn't, :smile:wink but here are my screenshots:

The difference is that you’re removing a card that has already been added. I’m trying to remove a card that is in the process of being added. There seems to be no way. I guess it will be stuck there for ever. I can’t finalize adding it and I can’t remove it.

If you press "Try again", you can go all the way back, then cancel out.

I have the same issue with my bank debit card. It is still stuck in verification but when I do what Ian suggested - tap the little black circle with the three white dots - I can delete the card. After that I can re-add it and try again. But since my bank requires a phone call and it never seems to get it right, I don't use it.

That just puts me in an endless loop. I never get an option to cancel.

As I posted above with a screenshot, there is no little black circle with three dots on either of the two screens that I see. Have a look at the screenshots.

I wonder if a reset of your iPhone would get rid of the "hanging" credit card? It would be a drastic way of removing it and cause lots of work for you to restore data and apps. Something to think about.

No. This card has been hanging since January. I did a full reset of the phone just a few months ago because of a different problem. The hanging card persisted right through the reset.

The only reason I rediscovered the hanging card was because I was looking at the Wallet in anticipation of the Apple credit card. I was surprised to see it there because I had given up on adding it a long time ago. It only shows up if you press the + symbol to add a card. It does not appear on the Wallet home screen.
