Ever since the upgrade to High Sierra, every time my Mac restarts, the wallpaper reverts to the default one. Does anyone have a fix for this?

How are you setting your wallpaper? I can change my wallpaper to whatever I want and it will stick in High Sierra even on a restart. It does not revert to the High Sierra default JPG.

If you set the wallpaper you want, and restart it then, will that fix it for you?

I go to system preferences and to the Desktop and SreenSaver settings. I add a folder that contains all my favorite wallpapers and then select the one that I want to use.

Never had an issue like this for any of the previous ones. Maybe there is a glitch in my installation of Mac OS High Sierra and I need to make a fresh installation.

It sounds like you're doing everything correct. I also choose my wallpaper from a separate folder that I have created. However, I have no problem with the wallpaper reverting back to the default. Is this wallpaper you're choosing the same as you were using in Sierra? Have you tried other wallpaper like those from the Apple selection to see if that sticks?

The wallpaper is the same one that I was using with Sierra. I sort of fixed the problem. I believe something would have happened during the fresh clean install of High Sierra. This was the reason for the wallpaper issue. So fortunately I still had the USB from the fresh install of Sierra I did a couple of years ago. Using that, I installed Sierra and then upgraded rather than the fresh clean install. As a result, it is now perfect.

The reason for the fresh clean install of HS was because I heard that APFS would work better and faster than after actually converting a HFS drive.

OK.. I stand corrected. I figured out the problem. I wanted the Mac to login automatically to my profile since I am the only one using it. As it stands. Whenever you choose this option, it reverts back to the default wallpaper or whatever wallpaper that was there when you had Sierra on. So in short, there was nothing wrong with my original clean install of HS after all. It is a glitch.

I don't believe that's the way it works. I have my log on setup to log to my profile whenever I start or restart my iMac since I alone use this machine. I can set my wallpaper to whatever I wish and it will always bring it up when I boot. As far as I know, it never went back to the default wallpaper for the version of macOS I was using. There's something else going on with your setup, however, if you're happy with the way it is now, leave it.

I think it may depend upon where you store your favorite desktop pix. I've always had this issue until I dropped the photo I wanted into the Desktop section of settings, then it stayed put after a restart. The wallpaper I store in a folder always has to be reset.

I did a fresh reinstall of Sierra on my computer to see what is the reason. It is the NVIDIA web drivers that is causing it.

What exactly are the "NVIDIA web drivers" that you refer to???
