I want to install Numbers to my Mac but the App Store tells me that I need OS10.14 and I have 10.13.6. (High Sierra)

I went looking for an upgrade and the only one I could find in the App Store is Catalina. So I thought I would give that a try. Sadly it tells me that Catalina cannot be installed on my Mac.

Therefore I am wanting to install Mojave but it does not seem to be available in the App Store.

This has all started because Microsoft has removed a version of Excel that I had and wants me to use 365 at a cost. Currently, I can use excel but I cannot save.

Any thoughts as to how I can get Mojave as that appears to be the last upgrade possible on my Mac.

Read the following Apple Support Article which explains how to download Mojave:

Also, why would Microsoft remove a version of Excel that you were using? Not sure I understand that?

Your version of High Sierra (10.13.6) supports Office 2011 which includes Excel. It may even support Office 2016 although I'm not sure of that.

Hi chscag, thank you for your response.

I have no idea what I will do next as I am unable to update my Mac. Guess that means that I have to get a new one and i'm not sure how the bride will go with that as I have an iPhone 6s+ that has up and died and it needs to be replaced.

Suppose I will just have to pay MS for a fully working version of excel!

Thank you again.

In the interest of domestic tranquility, you may want to reconsider the MS Office 365 licensing. It's fairly cheap at the lowest level, includes Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook, with full updates. I'm paying US$7 per month, which is a bargain compared to a new machine or a full on paid license for Excel.

Also, why can you not update to Mojave? Chscag gave you the link to get that version. Did that not work?

Your iMac 12,1 cannot be upgraded past Mac OS 10.13.6.

Since you want something that is free, let me recommend:

FreeOffice (free)
www.freeoffice.com - FreeOffice for Windows, Mac, Linux and Android

FreeOffice is not from Microsoft, but it is fully compatible with Microsoft Office format files and it has a remarkably similar (maybe even better) interface.
The current version of FreeOffice is compatible with Macs all the way back to Mac OS 10.10, so it should work perfectly with your iMac.
