In a previous post I asked about how to deal with quirky Bluetooth (Bt) in that it would not operate with more than one external device at a time.

In order to utilise both Minis with one monitor I tried using an HDMI splitter to move back<>forth from 64-bit on the Mini '23 (Sonoma) to 32-bit on the Mini '18 (Mojave), in the hope that Bt would also move seamlessly, but a) Bt did not transition, and b) the monitor did not like it one bit.

Most times I need to shut down any external Bt devices, eg. a JBL sound system, then restart it after a different OS has loaded.

Mojave has Bt v6.0.14d13 but Sonoma is coy about identifying which Bt version it has. Does someone know if there are there two different versions?

Therefore, what is the startup sequence for the MacOS, keeping in mind I'm using two version of the OS? If I know that, I will also know the optimum time to power Bt devices back on. TIA.

It might help if you explain the start up sequences between your Minis and the devices you are using so that we can follow along.

Most BT devices can be paired with multiple hosts, but only be connected to one. There are a few exceptions like speakers/headphones that allow you to be connected to multiple hosts simultaneously, but they will only stream data from the most recently active one. My BT headphones has this functionality and I've found it to be largely useless.

Sorry for the delay in responding.

In answer to Ashwin, the devices using Bluetooth (Bt) are:
1. Mini 2023 with Sonoma (M23)
2. Mini 2018 with Mojave (M18)
3. JBL 5.1 sound system
4. JBL headphones
5. iPhone 7
There is no consistency in how each behaves, with the possible exception of the M23 if it is the only device (iPhone excepted) operating; and the headphones. If the M18 is operating as well, ie. both Minis, Bt works with neither. I haven’t tested the h’phones with both Minis operating.

The iPhone 7 simply refuses to connect; and I think that is most likely to do with its older Bt version.

The principal reason I’d like to learn about the OS startup sequence of either of the two Minis is to turn on the JBL sound system - or to try the iPhone7 - at a more precise stage and to try to avoid the frustration of no connection, even tho the M23 or M18 may be the only devices trying to connect with Bt. I suspect the iPhone7 may be a lost cause.

Most of my devices do what I think you are trying to do. I have my iPhone, iPad, and Mini near each other and some of my BT devices are paired with the TV as well. I'll drag out an old MacBook tomorrow and try to do some testing to see if I can duplicate your issue.

IIRC with the devices I have I had to pair them once. Once that's done I go into BT settings and click Connect to move a headset from one device to another.
