Looking for some advice on a spare power cable for my MacBook Air ( MacBook Air (13-inch, 2017).
As you all know if the power supply fails I won't have any method of using my MacBook . Any advice on this please.
Or would there any other method of using the MacBook. At the moment everything is working fine. Just a thought for the future as if the MacBook went wrong can be repaired .
Thanks once again
David.

If you're looking for a spare MagSafe Charger for your 2017 MBA, the best place to purchase one is direct from Apple. You can also check availability at Amazon.com.uk.

There really isn't any other way of using your MBA other than from the MagSafe Charger or from its battery.

It's important to note that you may want to stay away from third party chargers for Macbooks (by which I mean actual ac chargers, not powerbanks which are external batteries). All recent Macbooks have lithium batteries, and lithium batteries need special care to keep them from overheating, warping, having diminished lifespans, etc.

While there are inexpensive knockoffs of Apple's Macbook chargers, we now know that there is a bunch of very sophisticated programming in the real thing, and the knockoffs are pale imitations. See:

You should only get a genuine Apple charger. They have genuine Apple chargers for sale on Amazon for a bit less than getting one directly from Apple. But be very careful, they have chargers on Amazon that claim to be genuine Apple chargers, and they aren't. (At the minimum, a genuine Apple charger will have an embossed Apple logo on the side.)

I've purchased faux Apple Macbook chargers in the past to check them out, because they are so tempting, with significantly lower prices than the real thing. In every case they were clearly dangerous. They would get unreasonably hot in use, and they would typically fail after only a few month's use. Don't risk it, go for the real thing.
