Apple Contacts 13.0 has from 20-100 duplicates on few contacts

On iMac OS 15.3.1, in Contacts 14.0, a few contacts have duplicated themselves anywhere to 20 extra to over 100 in one. I have deleted repeatedly, and they come right back. Tried deleting and quitting Contacts quickly, but nothing works. Has been going on for a few days, so would like to know how to delete these duplicates permanently.

Have you just setup iCloud syncing for Contacts? Or just setup iCloud for the first time. If so check this Apple Support page.

If you set up iCloud Contacts on your Mac or PC and then see duplicate contacts, follow these steps.

Make sure Contacts is only linked to your apple address/account. If it is also linked to Google, Yahoo, etc...you get the multiples. Yet those mail accounts work perfectly despite not being linked!
