For those who are interested, I've just made a big update to my Free Macintosh Software Web page. There are now 180 products listed! This latest update was heavy on little utilities that make using your Mac easier, less tedious, and more enjoyable.

Free Macintosh Software
(The best free applications and utilities for the Macintosh.)

Please spread the word about this Web page far and wide! Enjoy!

That's a great idea. :) Just one minor point: it would be really cool if each listed app also said what is the minimum version of Mac OS it will run on.

Once again, my resolve to stop being a digital packrat. crumbles in the face of the words "Randy has found new free software".:smile

Just curious, Is there a way to only see the new software when an update is posted?

You can find that out instantly by clicking on the link for the developer's Web site.

Hmmm... The words "instantly" and "easily" are so relative and may depends on the user for many of the selections, unfortunately. 😉

I didn't keep track of everything that is new since the last update, but I know that the following are new:

BLEUnlock
Clyde
DarkModeBuddy
DarkTable
EdenMath Scientific Calculator
GreenOrbmax
Hyperkey
OBS Studio
1001 TVs for Mac
Red Quits
Right Zoom
SkipTheTrash
SmartCapsLock
Website Blocker

Please compile the information that MacBiter is asking for, and let us know how long it took you. Then we can judge how quickly and easily you accomplished doing so.

I just recommended this free utility today. It disables the keyboard for cleaning purposes, especially helpful for Mx Macs which boot up from cold shutdown if any key is pressed.

I think it might be a worthy addition to your list.

Ah, the problems here are 1) I'm disabled and every extra click is something I try to avoid, and 2) if I'm investigating multiple apps, I'd have to go to so many websites and then click around on each one to see if THEY have put the minimum spec - and you'd be amazed how many don't. .

I appreciate the time and effort that Randy put into his list, but the reasons you stated above are very similar to mine and are some of the reasons I tend to use Macupdate.com and the use of their search and restrict filters:

If the developer's Web site doesn't include the minimum spec for their software....then I don't know what it is. I have a bunch of Mac's, but I don't have an example of every version of the Mac OS. I don't have the facilities, or the time, or the inclination, to test every bit of software against the last ten versions of the Mac OS, to find it's specs.

It might be different if I charged for access to my Web sites, or if I had a sponsor and riddled my pages with ads...but I don't do/have either. I'm just providing what I hope is helpful information that folks enjoy, for free. With luck, folks will just be happy with what I've provided and not keep asking for MORE, to the point that I just get fed up and stop providing anything.

I provide a bunch of (what I hope are) helpful Web sites:

I looked at the list and didn't see an app for grabbing video clips and pictures (memes) from X (Twitter). Is the an app that does that and converts it to use on the web? Example would be a video on X I would like to text my son and brother.

Thank you

I'm not sure if the option is available to you from the site you are visiting and you may not even need any extra application as many sites provide the viewer an option to share and you should be able to use that I would think to send it to whoever you want assuming they have a current email address you can share it to.

Most sharing options often use icons something like one of these and they all usually have a small area to add your own comment for the receiver to read, all done using the browser application you are already using probably.

Thank you pm-r. I should have figured that out myself. It's not something I routinely do.

Thanks again.

In addition to using the sharing link in individual tweets, when you encounter a video that you want to download, have you tried right-clicking (or Control-clicking) on the video to see if there is an option to save it to your drive?

Thanks for adding that Randy as I forgot to include that method in case they didn't know about it.

That is certainly my first recourse for grabbing still pictures from the Web.

Well, it seems that each and every user is entitled to use whatever method works for them and many users certainly seem to have a variety and alternative methods available to them.

Whatever works.eh, as they say in Canada... 😉

For those who are interested, I've just made a big update to my Free Macintosh Software Web page.
Free Macintosh Software

First & foremost, thank you for a most useful addition to the world of Mac applications.

Would it be both feasible and reasonable to make the webpage secure? Brave is keen to tell me it isn't.

Hugh
