Hello all, in Sounds and Haptics screen, if I move the 'Ringtone and Alerts' slider I can hear the ring tone just fine and as normal but whenever my phone rings or I get a text no audible sound. I tried powering off and restarting my phone a few times but does not help. But if I set a 'Timer', when it goes off I can hear the audible tone.

These are my current settings, help please?

Have you checked the slide switch l/h side, just down from the top of the phone.

Check the Side button, usually above the volume buttons.

Is it a Button, or an up/down switch?

If it's a push button, it's press and hold to make the change, not a click. That may be why it didn't work earlier.

It's been a press button since iPhone 15 with the introduction of the Action Button on the iPhone 15 Pro models. My new iPhone 16e doesn't have the Action Button on the right side but I have a Push Button above the + - sound level buttons which is Mute/Unmute by default but can be re allocated, you can assign the button to launch the camera, flashlight, Focus modes, Translate app, Voice Memos, or even Visual Intelligence, which was previously exclusive to higher-end models but is now available on the iPhone 16e as well.
I never really used the mute function so I assigned the Camera to that button which makes for really easy quick access when I'm doing something else on the phone and suddenly spot something worth capturing.

I have an iPhone 13 mini, with the "toggle slide switch", and found it quite handy in meeting etc to silence, but these days my hearing aids connect to my phone, and as such is always on silent to the outside world.
