iPod question please

So I got a 30 pin to usb cable for my classic 3rd generation ipod.

I have learned that Apple Music will not recognize it, however I believe finder should but I'm not sure.

Also wondering since it doesn't do I have a bad cable?

Is this an iPod touch 3rd Gen, or the original iPod 3rd Gen?

Sorry, original ipod 21 years old

Thanks, I think rockbox may be the answer, but first my M4 has to see it.

Turns out the cable was bad, it will dock in music now, it even appeared to be syncing which I didn't think it could, half way through the battery died.

I'll keep trying

I think I read somewhere that that happened to a guy and when it was done nothing was on the ipod. But don't know the details.

My new battery is worthless so I need to get another.

If it's a bust I'm thinking of going with Rockbox, any experience with that?

Not me, it was the first I heard about it today.

It's an interesting looking OS...

It's syncing just fine , I do a few albums at a time until the battery gets low. Then charge again.

This will get me going until I get a new battery..
