Put on some rubber gloves (thick ones) and safety goggles... work in a well ventilated place. Keep lots of paper towels around so that you can clean up any water or acid spills.
1. Put electrical (vinyl) tape around the area as if masking it for painting.
2. Put several drops of 5-10% hydrofluoric acid (warning HF is extremely toxic) on the laser etched area. (Note: you probably can't get HF, but if you know any glass etchers or chemists they can get some for you)
3. Ocasionally rub the area with a gloved finger tip to see how far down you have dissolved the metal. You may have to apply more acid solution. The etching should disappear after a while.
4. clean the etched area with wet paper towels and then rub with a fine paste of baking soda. remove the tape and clean the area a second time.
5. You will now have to buff the chemically etched area like crazy to make the area shiny again. Oh, and it might turn sort of black depending on what metals are in the alloy, but that should buff out after a few hours.
Put all your waste in a plastic (not metal or glass) container and add water and lots of baking soda. dump the waste water down the drain and put everything else in the trash.
Congrats to your dad!!

but I am not sure, i think you can try it with air brush, consult some engraving agencies they may be helpful to you.
